THE RELATIONSHIP MANAGER - BUILDING STRONG TIES AT WORK


Overview

Relationship is at the core of everything that we do both at home and in the workplace. It defines our identify and shapes the perspective of us by the people whom we live with and work with. When relationships are well managed, we find more joy and happiness in everything that we do; to some, it even spurs us to contribute more and ultimately makes us happier people.

This 1 day course focuses on the foundations of building value added relationships in the workplace with colleagues, subordinates and our superiors to form strong ties. When practised collectively by everyone in an office, it creates a positive workplace environment where everyone finds it a joy to work in.

By the end of the training the participants will:

Workshop Objectives:

  • Identify the nature of conflict.
  • Recognize five approaches to conflict and identify your approach
  • Understand the critical role of emotion when dealing with difficult people and situations, and how to defuse it
  • Learn ten ways to say “No” without causing offense
  • Identify the four social styles and how to communicate with each
  • Learn how to minimize differences through building rapport and blending
  • Recognize three types of difficult people and how to deal with each type
  • Learn strategies for dealing with other types of difficult and annoying people

About the Trainer

Lucy has more than 25 years of teaching, training and course development experience. She holds professional and academic qualifications in MA (Instructional Design & Technology) awarded by NTU-NIE, MBA (International Management) awarded by University of Western Australia, Bachelor of Science (Economics & Management Studies) and Certificate-in-Education. Lucy has also attained the Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA) awarded by Singapore Workforce Development Agencies.

Lucy was a MOE education officer, a Training & Development Manager and a Sales and Marketing Manager before striking out to start her own training consultancy firm. She was also a volunteer youth and young adult counselor for non-profit organizations. Lucy is an accredited MBTI administrator, a certified EQ facilitator, a certified CREST trainer by DOOR Training International, and a Service Quality Institute (USA) consultant since 2002.

Lucy’s articulate and interactive training style makes her a well sought-after trainer by many organisations from the public and private sectors. Her friendly and easy delivery style never fails to make learning a pleasant experience. Her interest in understanding the human side of management and her passion in developing the human assets of organizations have always been her personal mission to coach people to become active contributors to their organisations’ growth and success. She was also a ST701 public speaker in ‘Workplace Communication’.
