2 day Workshop on The new terrorist trends – with emphasis on “Suicide attack against V.I.P”

Samuel Bashan has trained over 250 security professionals in Singapore.

General background

How do we organize ourselves properly against the adversary?

And how we consolidate and prepare our response?

The deadly combination, "Suicide bomber as a VIP assassin"

One of the new developing trends in terrorist attacks is the increasing use of suicide attacks, particularly a new method - "Suicide attack against VIP"

Suicide bombers are the most sophisticated weapons in use by terrorist organizations around the world, and this is reflected daily in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Deadly terror attacks in which a human been is the mode of delivering explosives to the target in order to kill others — this growing phenomena is spreading around the world, reaching as far as USA, Spain, Indonesia, India, Middle East, China, Thailand and the Philippines.

Suicide bomber as a VIP assassin:

The intransigent attempts of the adversary endeavors to spread lack of control and coerce policy transformation in the country:

  • suicide bomber assassinated former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto
  • assassinated Sri Lanka Minister Douglas Devananda
  • assassination of the leadership in Sudan

The suicide bomber usually works in 2 main ways:

  • Denotation of the suicide belt which is carried on the body
  • As a suicide driver, where the bomb is loaded in the vehicle, truck, or other means of transportation

Course outline

By understanding our opponent, the terrorist, we will be able to prepare for a larger number of scenarios and implement the following:

  • Preparing operational plans which should enhance our ability to respond in case of potential terrorist attacks
  • Anti-terrorism versus counter-terrorism
  • The next trends of terrorism: guerilla fighting and activating small operational units, based on rebellion ideology that emanates from constant survival struggles, also against VIPs.

In our response methods we should undergo comprehensive training on the tools and methods which the “suicide bomber” uses today.

What is this new phenomenon? What is the stimulus and motivation to kill? This is why the training seminar wills focus on:

  • Dignity protection and the "connecting thread" to terrorism
  • Securing mass events against terrorist attacks
  • Large scale concerts - public concentration is an "attractive" target for terrorist attacks
  • Aviation security – private and public versus terrorist attack
  • Public transportation versus terrorist attack
  • Future evaluation in accordance to risks surveys versus terrorist attack

Most important:

  • Recognizing the weapons of the adversary
  • How does the terrorist operate and what system does he use?

Case studies- Suicide bomber and Terrorist attack in VIP assasination:

1.  Lebanon- The assassination of Minister Pierre Gemayel in Beirut
2.  Saudi Arabia – concealing explosive device in the intestine and passing the security checks in      the palace
3.  Israel- On 17 October 2001, Palestinian terrorists assassinated Israeli Tourism Minister      Rechavam Ze'evy
4.  SEA- The al Qaeda link in Southeast Asia, the Jemaah Islamiah (JI), has set up a new      assassination squad and targeted top leaders who oppose the terror group.
5.  Iran- Suicide bombers plan to assassinate Putin in Iran (October 2007)
6.  Pakistan- former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a suicide attack.

Suicide terrorist attacks worldwide is a growing phenomenon!
