2 day Practical Workshop on Investigation Techniques

Introduction

Investigation involves a series of planned activities to uncover information about a crime or determine causes of incident. The purpose is to identify, gather and preserve evidence, as well as to search for witnesses. Most people have in one way or another been acquainted with a crime or civil dispute. You may be the victim, witness or even an interested party. In some instances, you may also be the investigator. Being able to approach and respond to such situations appropriately is an asset to all – be it a Manager, executive, police officer, or security guard.

In order to achieve this purpose, you need to adopt an investigative stance with a probing mind and put yourselves in the investigator’s shoes. You have to be familiar with the role and functions of the investigator and more importantly you need to assume the right qualities of a good investigator. Personal traits such as curiosity, intuition, ability to judge character and having an analytical mind are qualities that are crucial to investigation other than technical and legal knowledge.

The central thrust of this training is to impart tips, processes and procedures of investigation, along with the necessary skills associated with it. The envisioned outcome is that this knowledge will serve as a foundation for application in conducting a basic investigation.
